As they achieved the rare 5-peat in the NCAA, is the Red Lions ready get toe-to-toe with the big guns in the other prestigious collegiate league which is the UAAP?
After the Red Lions demolished Arellano Chiefs 89-70 during Game 2 of their Best of Three series, University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons point-guard Mikee Reyes tweeted that if the Mendiola-based squad can now transfer in the UAAP while his team which has another forgettable performance in Season 77 should make a comeback in the NCAA.

Of course, Reyes was just joking on his post, but can the Red Lions really roar their way out in the UAAP?
San Beda had a previous rivalry with Ateneo when the Loyola-based squad is still part of the NCAA until 1977, when the Blue Eagles decided to withdraw from the oldest collegiate league after an ugly brawl with the Red Lions, in which their final championship game was decided to play behind closed doors.
But one thing is lacking with San Beda for them able to play in the UAAP. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) should first grant the Benedictine institution with a “university status.”
